Midwest Recipe Box is a cooking-first home for the dishes recorded on index cards, tucked into community cookbooks, and remembered around supper tables.
What belongs in the box
Twelve core states. Room for meaningful borderland stories.
The collection’s core is Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. A nearby recipe may be included only when its contributor explains a real Midwestern community connection and an owner approves it.

Instructions come first
History is concise. Ingredients, steps, timing, and safety notes are easy to find while cooking.
A person reviews every submission
Automation may help transcribe source material, but it cannot approve, publish, or invent recipe details.
A note on this preview
The founding recipes are demonstration cards.
They show how the finished archive behaves and are clearly labeled in their source notes. Owner-supplied recipes, scans, photographs, rights information, and food-safety review will replace or supplement them during the content-import milestone.
