Make the project
- Cut paper towel tubes in half if needed.
- Tape one end of each tube closed.
- Line the tubes with rolled waxed paper.
- Pour 3/4 cup warm water into a bucket and stir in 1 1/2 cups plaster of paris.
- Add tempera paint and mix thoroughly.
- Stand tubes tape-side down and fill them with the colored mixture.
- Tap the sides to remove air bubbles and trim excess waxed paper.
- Let dry, peel off the tape, cardboard tubes, and waxed paper, then use the chalk.
